Bring your worn-out clothes, take up needle & thread and learn the age-old art of Japanese sashiko. Instructor and textile artist, Nika Feldman studied sashiko/boro-boro while living in Kyoto, Japan for two years as a Monbugakusho scholarship recipient.

Historically, sashiko was a utilitarian stitching technique used for the coats of fishermen, fireman and farmers; developing later into a decorative art form of geometric patterning.

Recently, sashiko has come into international vogue being featured in museum exhibitions and enthusiastically adopted by the DIY community.

No sewing experience necessary, supplies included in workshop fee. Tea and snacks also included!
