Louise Barkhouse

Louise Barkhouse is a lifelong citizen of Glace Bay, Cape Breton Island.  Throughout Louise’s life work and family took precedence but art was never out of her thoughts, she sketched on every piece of paper in sight and encouraged her children’s love for the arts. It was not until 2003 when she became disabled that she was able to focus on art full time. “My painting allows me to escape for a short period of time; to enter a world where I am in complete control. The paint brush and blank canvases and paper are like magic bringing excitement to each day.  One never knows what painting will evolve.”
