Shelley Ingram

Knitter

Shelley Ingram was to taught to knit by both her grandmother and grandfather as a young girl, now as an adult she calls it her passion, saying “If I’m sitting, I’m knitting”. Shelley focuses on warmth and colour in all her creations and is best known for her thrummed wool mittens & slippers. Her interests have recently turned to dyeing wool, she says she often gets unexpected results “but that’s all part of the fun.” The variances achieved through dyeing make each item unique. Shelley has begun to use primarily natural dyes in her process and forages all over Cape Breton for plant materials.
