Beverly A. Cathcart
Beverly grew up in Scotchtown, Cape Breton, and has resided in Sydney River for the past 40 years. One of 6 children of a coal miner and a home maker, Rudy and Bessie Olszowiec. Upon her retirement from a 30 year career in the banking industry, she dabbled in oil, acrylic and silk painting but watercolour was the medium that gave her the most pleasure and freedom.
In 2017 she was honoured to have been chosen as the Featured Artist at the 20th Anniversary Pierscape Art Festival in Whitney Pier, Cape Breton, which took place in June. Bev seeks inspiration for her paintings from quiet rural settings, Cape Breton beaches, chaotic big cities, both her own & friends’ gardens and her own kitchen!
“I do enjoy the challenge of realistic painting but my preference is a loose, impressionistic style which allows the viewer an opportunity to draw their own conclusions.”
